Accounting Supervisor

Location: Dalton, GA
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB:  This position maintains and controls business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and a thorough review of financial records. Supervises Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable. This position will report directly to the Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:   
  • Assists in preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from our ERP system and other divisions.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning ledger numbers; requesting disbursements
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Protects organization's values by keeping information confidential. 
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintains customer’s sales tax exemption certificates.
  • Monitors and generates accounts receivable aging reports.
  • Prepares credit references and applications.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Controller or Management.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and 2-3 years in public accounting or within private industry.  Accounting Supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication skills, be detail and task oriented, possess creative problem solving skills, and be able to comprehend at a rapid pace.  We are seeking a team player with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).  Microsoft Dynamics experience is preferred.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:  Standard office hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm); however overtime and weekends may be required.
