 JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Director of Manufacturing position directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, quality and other production-related activities.
  • Responsible for insuring safety is the priority in all manufacturing operations.
  • Improve plant productivity using tools such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Overall responsibility for all manufacturing activities including safety, quality, productivity, purchasing, production planning, plant personnel, and team development.
  • Accomplish company goals and objectives by providing leadership and guidance to a management team consisting of a plant manager and eight production supervisors.
  • Responsible for establishing and documenting the most efficient manufacturing processes for new and established products.
  • Determine manufacturing costs for new and current products.
  • Participate in pricing negotiations with raw material vendors.
  • Responsible for establishing and achieving manufacturing key performance indicators and goals.
  • Execute cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
  • Lead efforts to identify automation opportunities by integrating new technologies.
  • Participate in human resource activities including but not limited to: hiring, firing, interviewing, disciplinary actions, investigations, and workers compensation.
QUALIFICATIONS:  Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, or similar area.  Candidates must have 5 - 10 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment; previous Plant Manager, Superintendent, or Industrial Engineer experience is highly preferred.  Experience implementing Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing initiatives preferred.
Applicants must have the flexibility to juggle multiple tasks and comprehend at a rapid pace. We are seeking a team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills, who is highly motivated, has a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and is a self-starter. 
WORKING CONDITIONS:  This position is in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, with low to medium noise levels, requiring ear protection and safety glasses, in certain areas.  Frequent movement on production floor, includes standing, stooping, bending and reaching.
